About Me

I've spent three decades working with young people in media, non-profits, and as Artistic Director of the Community Arts Company I founded, Making Room Community Arts. The question is always the same: how do we uncover what really matters?

I have two Master's degrees with a focus on spirituality, creativity and psychology, including a certificate in psychotherapy and spiritual care. I did my clinical placement with Victoria College at the University of Toronto, where I confirmed my passion for working with emerging adults navigating cultural transitions, identity questions, and the complexities of university life.

My approach to therapy is experiential and curiosity-led, drawing on practitioners like Diana Fosha, Tori Olds, and Juliane Taylor Shore. Rather than fragmenting you into separate identities—student, family member, cultural background, spiritual self—we work with your whole, integrated being. This means honoring all of who you are: your cultural and spiritual frameworks, your emotions and body wisdom, your intellect and creativity.

I bring considerable curiosity, enthusiasm and creativity into our work together, rooted in the firm belief that you already carry within you the power to heal and grow. My role is to be present with you as we discover what is good, true and most alive in you.

Testimonials

“It’s good not being in the echo chamber of my own mind to learn that it isn’t all in my head. I didn’t think therapy would work, but I’m glad I came.”

“Mike helps me unpack things in a way that makes sense, unlike past therapists who often skate over the emotional aspects.”

“I like the fact that there is an emphasis on understanding over immediate problem solving because I often realize the problem isn’t the actual problem!”
